This is you PRINTFOOLS

time to juggle as the semester slips away from you... Ask yourself these questions:
Are you spending night and day in the shop?
Are you ignoring lesser classes?
Has your soul turned the color of ink?
If NO is the answer then you are in danger of "dropping the printmaking balls".

If you are in Madison tonight drop by my opening at

Page Load Error

I'm on the shop computer even, can't blame my lemon of a laptop.

Perhaps I will do some Googling later. I have asphaltum to check on.

I got a error as well, but it worked for me to copy and paste the link.

I really like the 'Acrobats' print. The use of lights and darks is awesomely done.

hmm... well the link told me I was forbidden.... but I copied and pasted and that semi worked out. I really enjoy the Litho Circus Acrobats. The use of light value is really well accomplished. It is interesting to compare it with the one Caitlin speaks of titled Acrobats.

hartwell's litho's have a painterly style to them that makes a nice flow of imagery and context.

countdown is on...less than 20 days til the senior show.

I never understood why people were afraid of clowns...until now! Man, Hartley's clown print really kinda messes with my imagination.

I really enjoyed Hartwell's Burlesque Show. At first I thought that it looked creepy like ghost rising off the stage because they don't have like feet but after I read the title and the caption I could see it better.

that clown print in color is really creepy. It reminds me of when I saw "IT" for the first time in like 3rd grade.
I also really like that Landscape with a Woman in White... I have a hard time making drawings with that big of a sense of depth.

Unfortunately I can say I'm officially in danger of "dropping the printmaking balls"....thanks to those lesser classes =(. I can't say I'm a big fan of these prints this week because I'm terrified of clowns and the circus...however I like the boldness of the Burlesque clowns. There is such a great source of light illuminating their faces.

I haven't been able to get on the Harwell site at all :/

the apple etching on the show flier is incredibly realistic!

I agree with Michelle on being weirded out by these prints. I am also at risk for dropping the ball, that what happens when you are a comm major and are graduating. :(

I love creepy things. They are my favorite, well maybe not, but these prints are pretty rad!

Burlesque Show litho is awesome. The treatment of his figures is very successful. The excessive lines in Circus Acrobats really makes this print have an excellent sense of space. Way to go George.

jayne jackson's color is amazing, I really need to work on my color after looking at that, so crisp and exact, if i only had the time. I couldn't get the other website open for some reason though, but looking at the images through google i was able to see some of them, and the clown print is horrifying i hate clowns, so very creepy and he really portrays them that way.

Well, I officially hate this old computer in the shop - and will google later.

However, I am very proud to say that I am skipping a lesser class to be in the shop, working myself to the bone.

(Though I have been dropping the ball with the blog.)

PS. Becca, I'm with you on FML. And if you want to see others, visit www.fmylife.com

Haha, reminds me of the Britney Spears concert last weekend... there were a lot of circus acts before she actually took the stage. Kinda cool/creepy...

The best act of all though was the trashy girl a few rows down from me who fell face first down a few rows, then pissed herself. Very sad...

I'm gonna go with Cara on this one. Hartley's clown print is so vivid and just eery.

and the Burlesque Show litho kinda makes me want to see what litho is all about now.

Burlesque Clowns is my favorite, it has a creepy vibe to it but i love the essence of the whole litho!

Hartwell's litho prints are pretty awesome. I agree that the clowns are kind of creepy. I love the contrast in the prints though.

Sadly the link didn't work for me, so I just googled it myself and looked at some images. I love the way this artist handles value. The gradations are beautiful and all the prints that I saw had a great contrast between the lights and darks which gave the images a very dramatic feel. The content is very provoking. I don't understand many of the images, but it's something I want to research further.

have never been scared of clowns until now - PETRIFIED! yikes dudes! love the play on light, it illuminates the focus of the print, makes it somewhat eerie. great stuff.

I have never really liked clowns so these prints weren't my favorite. I agree with Becca, I do appreciate the painterly quality of his work.
Props to everyone who has been staying focused and working hard, I know I have had a hard time being inside as it starts to warm up outside! Keep working so hard everyone!!!
